Persecution of our Brethren

My heart is heavily burdened this morning thinking of all the persecution faced by our Christian brothers and sisters around the world today. No one is there to see their tears or hear their cries. They suffer the worst of all cruelties for ONE very simple reason: they will not deny Jesus Christ.

As fellow Christians we must be praying for these people in different countries, risking all that they have just to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. I feel worthless compared to them india1when I see how brave they are to endure all this persecution and hurt and torture!!!

John 15:18 says:
“If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before [it hated] you.”

Jesus Christ was hated even more when He walked upon this earth. Today I hear the arrogant arguments of people around the globe who do not believe in the existence of God, and I have come in contact with quite a few such “Atheists” and as sad as this is, their ignorance for the truth is amazing.

It surprises me just how much hate this world can have towards Christians – we are a peaceful people, seeking nothing but to spread the truth and to show people the way to salvation in a most peaceful manner. And yet, we are the most persecuted.

Even the young children such as this boy are willing to die for their love of Jesus Christ

While we think that the very fact that no one will listen to our teachings or our efforts to change someone’s mind and bring them to God is terrible, the worst level of this persecution can be witnessed if you simply do a quick google search for “christian persecution” – the images are horrendous and most revolting. Tears are flowing down my eyes as I write this after having witnessed the amount of pain our own brothers and sisters have to go through every day in other parts of the world.

And although naturally our hearts tend to feel hatred towards the enemy, we must always remember that our enemy is not of flesh or blood. Our enemy is in the spiritual realm.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

The devil – the fallen one is our biggest enemy and we must learn to recognize that no matter how cruel others are to us, the reason they act this way is because of the spirit of evil that makes them do so. Jesus Christ, dying on the cross, said the following:

“Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34)

We must follow our Master’s footsteps and forgive the humans which the devil uses to carry out such evil against us, now matter how big or small. They are blind and are doing this from the utter influence of the evil spirit. We must learn to forgive them and pray for them regardless of how they may treat us. I know it is hard but it is by our LOVE that we show the world who we are.

We are Christians, and we are the children of light, the children of peace, and the children of love. No other group exists which is willing to endure all this hatred and hurt and still love the people who do so.

While the leaders of the world keep ringing on in their speeches to stand up for your cause, to rebel against the oppressors, to make your voice be heard, to respond instead of being quiet, look what our leader said:

“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;” (Matthew 5:44)

THIS, dear world, is how my Jesus Christ is different from all other people who were, is, and will be to come. Our Messiah teaches peace and love, and so will we practice peace unto the world, loving each and every one of you until the end.

Peace be with you.
