The Shield of Faith

Good morning, and a warm welcome back to all my dear readers today! I have by God’s grace been doing alright, and I hope you have as well.

Today, let us return to our discussion of the Armor of God.

As we read before in Ephesians, Chapter 6, verse 14-17,

16 “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.”pt196_fierydarts-cropped

This, my friends, is what I have been waiting for. My favorite part of the Armor, the shield of faith!

Our faith in God alone can save us in any time of distress or need. We all know what a shield does for a soldier at battle. The shield is like a part of the armor that he can manipulate to protect different parts of his body according to the enemy’s attack.

A soldier’s shield moves according to how his hand moves, as it is his hand that holds his shield. If we all carry a shield of faith, it is our necessity to carry it and hold it up with all our might, no matter what, in order to protect ourselves so we may  fight further.

shield-of-faithI hope you understand that what I am trying to say is that our faith is our responsibility. Hold it up all the time, meaning don’t lose your faith. The enemy may try to separate you from your shield using his swords and spears, but only if we hold on to it so tight will we be able to protect ourselves. Our faith in God should be strong enough so that no matter who or what comes in our way, we will never let go of that shield.

Having strong faith protects us because God can only protect you if you believe and trust that He can. If you have read my earlier posts, then I trust you remember how I once talked of how our fear makes us vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy. If you would like to read that post once again, please CLICK HERE.

Why should we, the soldiers of the army of the almighty and powerful Heavenly Father, fear at all? Hold on to your faith, my dear fellow soldiers, because it is our duty to fight for our God.

As long as you don’t let go of your shield, the enemy can never touch you. But in order to be completely protected from the enemy, we need ALL the parts of the armor. That is precisely why I am continuing this subject and looking at each part of the armor one by one in detail.

Only if we know exactly what each part of the armor does and what it is comprised of, will we be able to do some soul-searching to see if we lack any of the parts of this armor.

Don’t forget that the enemy is looking for every chance to attack you, and you may not even know it; therefore, always be fully prepared for anything. Therefore, my friends, keepArmorOfGod-1_49213259_std your armor intact every second of every day, not letting the enemy touch you. Check your armor when you get the chance, looking to see if you’ve accidentally taken off the belt of truth or your shoes of peace.

I urge my readers to do some serious soul-searching every day, whenever you can find the time. Check yourself to see where you lack in the eyes of God, and try your best to live up to the expectations your Heavenly Father has of you.

This battle is not an easy one. It is one that requires great courage, spirit and loyalty to our Father. This battle is one that tests every one of our abilities. This battle is a test of our faith, courage and desire and striving to succeed. This battle tests our patience to hold on till the very end. This battle tests who we are and where we stand in accordance with God.

All I can say as a fellow soldier, is that we are in this together, and that God is with us no matter what. Feel free to e-mail me whenever you’d like, if you’d like to talk about your personal experiences in this spiritual warfare so far. I’d be glad to hear from you and discuss with you about such matters, and we can all morally support each other in this war with the devil. Here’s my e-mail:

I’ll see you next time, and in the meanwhile may God bless you and may the peace of Christ be with you!

Dwelling under the wings of God…

Psalms Chapter 91 verse 4: ” He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

I still remember the very day my father taught us of the importance of this verse in our lives.

Hello again, dear readers. As some of you may have read in the previous post to this one, ( “The Man Who gave up a Life-Saving Opportunity”) You may have noticed where I mentioned that if you stray from His path, God will take away the shield of protection from you and you will become vulnerable to the devil’s attacks. Actually, what is the shield of protection?

To explain this, I can think of no better role-model than the hen itself.

The mother hen keeps all of it’s beautiful chicks under it’s wings to protect them from the dangers lurking outside, like predators, or bad weather, etc. But just think of what may

Just look at those adorable chicks under the wings of their mother, safe and sound.. and to think that’s you and me..

happen when one of them, just out of curiosity, peeps out to see what’s going on, when in fact the mother is trying to hide it from a snake?

The chick would indeed see the snake, and it would definitely frighten it and try to get hold of it before it dives back into the sea of feathers.

Okay, now what if the chick is just dying of curiosity to get out and be free for some time.. what are the chances of the snake getting him now, hmmm?

Well my friends, no surprise, that is you and me.. yes, you and I are similar to those chicks.

A chick that comes to the mother instantly at her call and stays under the shadow of her wings will never be caught or hurt by anything. Yet a chick that disobeys it’s mother’s commands and gets out of the protection provided by her wings is a million times more vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy.. I hope you can see now that the chicks are us and the mother hen is the almighty God, and that the predator is the devil.

Let me go back to the quote: “He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust..”

His feathers mark the boundaries of our freedom.. no, His feathers mark the boundaries over which no devil can touch us.. His feathers mark the boundaries that save us and keep us safe in this evil world.

Keep within those boundaries. To do that, be obedient of God’s commands. Try to grow to the fullest means of being a true Christian.. Control your temptation to be part of the sinful world… be aware that it is the devil himself tempting you, not your silly “wings of freedom trying to take flight” or anything like that..

Don’t get me wrong: this doesn’t mean you must give up your dreams.. it means you must not let yourself be tempted into even slightly bending God’s laws for your own pleasure.. because the snake is out there.. waiting for a chance..

YOU are the one that should deny him that chance..

God bless you!
